Bucktown Summer Ideology - Chicago, IL

Summer Ideology is meant to enhance Chicago's beautiful summer evenings. Always crowded and fast-moving, this metropolitan city provides hidden gems, where we always look for ideas to create calm, relaxing environments.

On this particular property, we were invited to design a space on top of a garage. The client was looking for a space that will have an indoor feel without being completely enclosed. So we brainstormed along with the contracted GC to ensure aesthetic harmony without disturbing the functionality. Because this space is surrounded by fierce buildings breathing up close, we were challenged in finding ways to create an intimate feel, without obstructing the sky. Selecting the finishes was a simple process. Based on the structures designed for function, we knew that this space had to portray a luxurious, tone with a touch of hospitality feel. We emphasized our attention on lighting and used calm & neutral colors for decor to complement the different textures.

From furniture & decor to structural & fixed elements, each item was chosen with the excitement and anticipation of how this entire project will look and feel at the end. The seating arrangement for this residential project has been thoughtfully designed to provide the utmost comfort.

Warm LED lights have been strategically placed throughout the terrace, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere as the sun sets. The soft glow of the lights enhances the ambiance and adds a touch of intimacy, allowing guests to enjoy the space well into the evening hours.
